The answer came from something very personal.

Our son is allergic to cow’s milk.

At one point, our son had to cut out all dairy strictly.

But one day, he looked up and asked,

“Mom, will I still get a birthday cake this year?”

We searched everywhere — Google, Facebook, and websites about vegan cakes — but we couldn’t find any bakery that could both draw on cakes and make them truly dairy- and egg-free .

So we decided to do what moms do best:

We made it ourselves.

We tested and tweaked until we created a recipe that was free of dairy, eggs, and butter —

but still soft, delicious, and beautiful to decorate.
